Today, while most of us are forced to stay home, we are going to talk about something that is very important. This is a fact that we know but oftentimes neglect. It’s funny how we care so much about other people and other matters that we rarely think about personal needs. Many of us are guilty of that, so let’s get a bit personal as we talk about personal time.

Everyone needs his/her personal space, that is why this blog is encouraging you to take time to do things that are just for YOU.

As a professional, being committed to delivering your work to the best of your ability is a good thing. But sometimes, the pressure of work can get a toll on you and will not be healthy in the long run. Most especially if you are a parent, too. It’s not easy to deal with the deadlines, meetings, clients, and other work-related issues, and on top of them, your family needs—- all at the same time.

Or as a student trying your best to get that degree. Sometimes college requirements and professors can be frustrating that you find yourself tying to accomplish everything that you barely have the time to sleep. Not to mention alongside the academic battle is you are also figuring out who you are and your place in this world. Talk about stress.

Or let’s say you are on the other side of the coin. Maybe you are part of the blessed circle. Things are going well with you. You are living your dream, you have a good career and relationships. Even so, the importance of personal time really matters.

There are good things inside you, and they are waiting to be nurtured, cared for, and discovered. In this busy era that productivity is always a priority, we must also not forget to make time for ourselves.

Doing things for yourself can lead to many benefits. It gives you time to relax and recharge. It helps combat pressure.

Now, how do you this? Let’s begin with something that is doable: Set your phone timer for half an hour, go out, and just enjoy yourself. As you do, you might find that it is hard to not think about all the work that you have to do, but try. Start to loosen up, breathe better, and clear your mind. Remember, you are doing it for the most important being in the world: yourself.

Then you can develop it as a habit by practicing having a little break every day, and you’ll gradually see the benefits the more you do.

You may also take it to the next level: by traveling for the purpose of having personal time. This can be an opportunity to know yourself better.

When you are away from your regular life, you can essentially observe it from an audience perspective, opening you up to things that you may not know about yourself, such as your strengths and weaknesses. You are not distracted by the little details of your life, thus it is a chance to see the bigger picture. And this can lead to a better version of yourself.

Whether you have already traveled to give time for yourself or you haven’t, here is a good article that gives a list of places to check out for a solo trip. Each place has a description of what it can offer best to solo travelers. Check it here: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.thrillist.com/amphtml/travel/nation/best-places-to-travel-alone

Focusing on yourself and your needs is important. If you want the best for yourself and your future, take a moment for yourself.
